Campuses are closed due to Covid. It has been a year of one disappointment after another. There are many good reasons to just give up. But God is still at work. Let’s open our eyes of faith and look for new open doors. Of course, we all have new limitations in this season. (We will focus on rest and sabbath next week.)

<aside> 📖 Acts 16: 6-10 (NIV) 6 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. 8 So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. 9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Paul is a great model of what to do when God “shuts one door” of ministry. Let’s pray and ask God for this same perspective and courage to look for a new door.

We have seen God open a new online “door” for ministry. It is not what we expected a year ago. But like Paul, we don’t get to decide which door God opens. In faith, let us choose the “online door” and be willing to change our plans and hopes and expectations.

Most of us are all zoomed out. We have had wave upon wave of disappointments. Invite God into your fatigue and all the feelings that accompany Covid isolation.  Ask God to give you a new vision for who your “Macedonia man” might be, and pray for the courage the Paul to pursue this unexpectedly open door.

Students are in more desperate need of the Gospel and Christian community than ever before. We have Good News and relationships of love to offer them. As we faithfully walk through this new open door, God has been granting abundant fruit. Be inspired by this story from Central College!
