Outreach can feel emotionally exhausting when people do not respond as we had hoped. We work hard to open our hearts and change our habits in order to welcome new friends into our communities. We keep praying for them to say "yes" to our invitations and to Jesus. When they ghost us, we may feel personally rejected. Jesus not only faced the same rejections, but he warns us that this is normal.

How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”

This week you will begin working on Outreach 201, which is intentionally stoking curiosity in the minds of those who are indifferent to faith. What do you need from Jesus for this new level of sowing seeds? What vision do your students need?
